My concept explores the natural softness, delicacy and intermingling that exists in Water Lilies, Nasturtiums and other trailing plants. These plants reach and extend towards the light from their complex root system that is hidden beneath the large pad.
In my design, I’m contrasting with manmade materials such as resin, and chrome metal. The contrast between the synthetic material and the ultra-lush flowing forms evidences the growing divide between the man-made and natural. These objects act like the unnatural recreation of natural form. The sterile materials create an elegant and sophisticated rendition of something that is usually unrestricted and delicate.
